1.0 BACKGROUND

Lagos the most populous city in Nigeria and the African continent has a population of over 20 million, making it the largest metropolitan area in Africa as well as the financial centre and the economic hub of Nigeria. As a result of the large population, the State faces pressing energy challenges due to its rapid urbanization and growth in economic activities. Therefore, there is an urgent need for sustainable alternatives to the supply of energy from the national grid which is inadequate for the entire country. The total energy needs for the State is more than 65kW of electricity while what is being supplied currently by the existing diodes of less than 25kW at peak period.
