1. BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND CONTEXT

The proposed action will improve the living conditions of 43,614 displacement and conflict individuals in Borno and Adamawa states across Maiduguri, Monguno, Gwoza/Pulka, Madagali through a multi-sectoral area based response. The affected populations in need of assistance will receive through Food Security, WASH, Shelter, Education General Protection and ICLA (Information Counselling and Legal Assistance) services building on NRC’s response under the 2022 HIP and ongoing interventions within the same targeted localities to maximize the impact. Aligned to the HIP priorities and NRC’s view that the current emergency is protection centred all activities will be focused on reducing protection risks like exploitation, physical risks of movement, and transactional sex, among other risks and negative coping mechanisms caused by the lack of access to basic services.
